Fort Jackson is a historic battleground located on the Mississippi River in Buras, Louisiana. The stronghold was built in 1822 and hosted many battles throughout the Civil War. When building the fort, cypress timbers were used to support the star-shaped eight-foot-thick brick walls. Unfortunately, throughout the 20th century, hurricanes and storm surges damaged the structure’s brick walls and foundation immensely.
Spartan Building Corporation worked with architects at John Miller Associates to rehabilitate the historic Fort Jackson. With the help of the Plaquemines Parish Government, the project was completed in August 2011.
