What was once a tiny cafe in Manchac, started by Louis and Josie Middendorf in 1934, became the multi-location fried catfish hub known as Middendorf’s. Current owner Chef Horst Pfeifer contracted Spartan Building Corporation to construct the company’s second building in Slidell, Louisiana. The one-story white building has signature red details and a beautiful wood interior. The outdoor space hosts an open-air porch, a sandy play area for children, and several palm trees.
