The Garrison Structures of Jackson Barracks served as lodging for military personnel for many decades. The military base itself is historic and was built in 1834. Like many historic sites in New Orleans, Louisiana, the Garrison Structures suffered structural damage from Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Spartan Building Corporation was contracted to restore the structures alongside Yeates and Yeates Architects. The Restoration included several historical techniques requiring detailed mock-ups and adherence to the National Park Service Historical Briefs and Guidelines. Spartan completed the restoration of Garrison Structures 9, 10, and 11 in October 2010.
